Seminole, Texas is the County Seat of Gaines County, one of the most fertile and diverse counties in the state. Seminole is home to cotton, peanut, and chili farmers producing some of the best yields in Texas. The oil production in Gaines County is proven and the source of an active business that spreads throughout the Permian Basin. Seminole Independent School System has state of the art buildings, a football stadium, baseball stadium, tennis courts, and a theater department at the High School. Education is of the highest standard with many extra curriculum courses available to those who may want careers without college, such as cosmetology and metal & mechanical skills. The school personnel excel in helping those who want to further their education attain scholarships to various colleges.
Seminole is a welcoming and friendly community to call home. Lubbock, TX is 90 miles north and Midland/Odessa, TX is 70 south, so trips to the movie theaters and shopping centers are very manageable.
Gaines County Park has a community building for functions and also has a beautiful challenging 18-hole golf course. We're 30 minutes from Hobbs for horse-racing and the casino. Further West is Ruidoso, NM with snow skiing and lakes.
